HORN RAPIDS
In November of 2020, Tucci Energy Services brought to life Washington state’s first utility-scale solar harvesting and battery storage facility.
This 20-acre plant generates 4-megawatts of solar power, and is also home to a 1-megawatt battery storage system. In partnership with the City of Richland, Energy Northwest, Potelco Inc., Department of Commerce, and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Horn Rapids can provide clean, solar-generated electricity to 600 homes.
Tucci Energy Services will be partnering with ARES (Advanced Rail Energy Storage) technology to store this generated solar power. Harnessing the power of gravity, ARES transfers and stores renewable energy without degradation or thermal runaway, bypassing battery storage altogether.
This 12,000 panel plant is looking to develop an additional 10-megawatts in the next 5 years as the United States moves closer to its 2035 goal of 100% clean electricity.
